How to Defrag with Defraggler

A tool to consolidate your computer’s files and folders

 DEFRAG1

NOTE: My recent research reminds me that new laptops are almost all (if not all!) with solid state drives, “SSDS,” and that files and folders are already organized and kept up to date in a vastly improved manner distinct from the old style spinning discs hard drives.

THEREFORE I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS TOOL ON NEW LAPS OR DESKTOPS!!!!!!!

Now, for the older devices, over time computer files get scattered all over the hard drive/place on the computer disk where files are being copied, updated, deleted, and resized.  This slows down the operation of the computer and may contribute to crashes and freezeups.  Putting the files back in order “defrags” folders and files.  Defraggler is from Piriform.com, not the Windows defragmenting tool (which is called “Defragmenter.”)  How to run Defraggler:

  1. Double click Defraggler icon/box to open program

  2. Bottom left-find “analyze” blue box and double click

  3. Wait until analyzing is done, it may take 3 to 15 minutes

  4. Click “defrag” and it will take 30 minutes to hours to finish (especially if you haven’t defragged in a long time)!

  5. Close when done-click top right “X” button.

  6. NOTE: You can multitask while Defraggler works in the background-just minimize the Defraggler window and work on documents, internet search, etc.
